Painted from the beautiful church St Christopher d’Esquerdes, in Guérin in the Lot-et-Garonne region in the South of France, just below Bordeaux. L’Eglise d’Esquerdes is a beautiful, small, 12th Century Church situated in the middle of picturesque vineyards and orchards which has been passionately restored by Les Amis d’Esquerdes (the friends of Esquerdes), a small group of volunteers.

Painted in August 2019, I was attracted by the vibrant greens of the gently sloping vineyards, contrasting with the ruddy browns of the ploughed fields, and the lovely reflections in the small lake at the bottom of the valley
